Description:

On July 4th, 1776, a rag-tag assembly of visionaries signed into existence the most ambitious undertaking of their time a government by the people, for the people, and of the people. We have since come to know these visionaries as the Founding Fathers and their grand experiment as the United States of America.

More than 240 years on, their grand vision has matured and succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. What was once a confederacy of squabbling states, barely held together by desperate circumstance, has become the world’s preeminent power, a bastion of democracy and the undisputed leader of the free world.

To quote Sir Issac Newton – “If I have seen a little further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” I can’t think of a more apt quote to encapsulate the weight of the contribution of our own giants, the Founding Fathers. As a nation, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to their vision and their unflinching resolve in the face of impossible odds. Without it, the miracle that is the United States, and all the good and greatness that comes with it, would not exist today.

I have always wondered what the Founding Fathers would think of our country today. It’s no secret that the United States is going through challenging times, but despite that I think it’s important to take a wider view and appreciate how far we’ve come as a country since 1776. I like to imagine they would be amazed at the progress we’ve made.

With this optimistic belief in mind, I set out to paint a scene that portrays the Founding Fathers making their way through a modern Washington D.C., their eyes full of wonder and excitement, smiling as they take in the majesty of the present-day United States.

As always, I hope you enjoy my work. Please feel free to share it with others who you think may also enjoy it. If you’d like a copy, prints are available for order, along with mugs and postcards. Whatever you choose to do, I am thankful for your support. Thank you for your time and God Bless America!
